From the President
President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, Mr. Al Faltermeier doing double duty by leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and then carrying the note to the Optimist song. Attend.ance to?ay was down - --way down so AI's skills were really needed for the standard opernng. WIth our weak membership every effort should be made to attend the Monday meetings.
Meeting Notes
No birthdays were announced this week but there could be a big one next week that will include a double celebration.
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield reported he had a major crash with his computer. Hopefully all the important information regarding the Optimist records can be restored. If not, he ~ill probably need to take a class in keyboarding to reenter the information. The President is still seeking a member to be vice-president elect for 2009. If anyone is interested in the important position (vice president) please give the president a call.
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield discussed the club's status as a 50/3C organization.
The importance of water safety was discussed in general as it related to swimming pools, lake boating, and canoeing. This past week a young child in Shawnee had a close call in a swimming pool which generated the discussion.
Next week's program --Business meeting.
No one won the weekly pot because there wasn't enough "green" in the room to make it worthwhile.
See you next week.

From the President
President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, Mrs. Betty Hoge leading in the flag salute and Mr. Mike Forsythe carrying the note to the Optimist song. After listening to the song --you might say we had a bad day.
Meeting Notes
Guests today included Mrs. Susan Lemon, daughter of Mr. Dusty Chandler and Mr. Bill Forsythe, son of Mr. Mike Forsythe. It seems Bill is interested in joining the club --it seems "we are really glad."
According to Sec../Treas. Bill Birchfield the final net sales for Old Shawnee Days was $1,773.57 this year which varied somewhat from years past. It is difficult to plan for the event each year---some years supplies are left over and some years there are not. If any supplies aren't sold before hand they can always be used for a later function. In the Scribes opinion the only way for accurate accountability is for one person to do the ordering, shopping and reporting gross and net sales. Thanks again to everyone who carried the weight during Old Shawnee Days weekend.
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield has been cleaning his garage/basement and provided the President with many historical documents from the Mission Optimist Club.
President Gay Clemenson reported the Annual Spaghetti Dinner CCC last Thursday, June 12,2008 from 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. went real good. It was well attended along with having a lot of help. Thanks to all the people who participated in the event.
President Clemenson said the club concession trailer needs to be tucked away since it will not be used in the near future.
Mr. Mike Forsythe is performing in "Oklahoma" as Andrew Carnes. The outstanding show is continuing this weekend June 19,20,21, and 22 in The Theater In The Park, Shawnee Mission Park. If you are looking for something to do --this is the place to be. Show starts at 8:30 p.m. with the door opening at 7:00 p.m. They have been drawing standing ovations so check it out.
    Next week's program --Business meeting.
Nobody won the weekly pot because of small attendance (no tickets sold). You could win and still be a loser --no one wants to be in that category. I
    See you next week.

President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Sec./Treas Bill Birchfield providing grace, Mr. Dave Fick leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and Mr. Al Faltermeier carrying the note to the Optimist song.
Meetine: Notes
Mr. Mark Rawie's birthday is June 13 but he wasn't present to hear the thunderous applause so we just decided to wait until next week to announce it.
President Clemenson reminded everyone about the Annual Spaghetti Dinner CCC Event that will be held Thursday, June 12 from 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe Trail Restaurant, 9946 W. 87th, Overland Park, Ks. Our club will be donating four Turrle Wax car wash passes as silent auction items. Tickets for the occasion are $10.00 at the door or $8.00 if purchased earlier. Waiters and waitresses are needed. If you can help please give the President a call.
Mrs. Betty Hoge gave a report on the Trails Cafe operation in Old Shawnee Town during Old Shawnee Days, June 6-8, 2008. The club had a net of$1,6399.54 for the three day operation. She thanked all the people who worked their shifts plus extended time to cover where help was needed. Some of the left over supplies can be used for the Craft Fair, September 20.
Program Notes
The scribe introduced Mr. Mark Mollentine with the Governor's Meeting House. The pre-historical home was built in conjunction with the Reverend Thomas Johnson as a mission parsonage, by the prosperous Shawnee Indians who lived in, hunted and formed the region. Kansas became a territory in 1854, which began a series of events unparalleled in American history. At the forefront of these events the first Territorial Governor of Kansas, Andrew Reeder, arrived to attempt a peaceful transition from frontier to statehood. The home is designated as a Johnson County historical site. In observance of its' rich history of hospitality it was renamed the "Governor's Meeting House." The historic place is now a restaurant and catering business. Great program.
Next weeks program--- To be Announced
Mr. Jim Sharp won the weekly pot. Yes, he was sitting to the right of a Don. No one won when the first ticket was pulled because the old tickets were left in the container from last week. The second drawing made Jim a winner which made him enough for a gallon of gas --enough to get back to work.
See you next week.

From the President
President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, Mr. Dave Fick leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and Mr. Al Faltermeier carrying the note to the Optimist song. We had enough at the meeting today for two part harmony. It was great to see just about a full house.
Meeting Notes
Mr. Mike Forsythe reported on the trailer concession sales from last week. There was a net sale of $21 0 with about $840 in net sales for the last two weeks. The trailer has been put in mothballs for a while since the soccer schedule has been completed. Workers last week included Mr. David Teasley (opening), Mrs. Betty Hoge (closing), Kaci Forsythe (day time) and Mr. Mike and Mary Beth Forsythe (doing the shopping).
Mr. David Teasley with Edward Jones suggested maybe the concession trailer could be used during the Edward Jones sponsored Independence Day Celebration (from 7:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m.) on June 29, 2008 being held at the Liberty Memorial in K.C., Missouri. He will check on the feasibility of using the trailer.
President Clemenson discussed the District Meeting that was held in Emporia last Saturday. She was pleased to participate in strategic planning and felt it was a very worth while meeting. The plan is to be available in August.
President Clemenson had tickets available for the Annual Spaghetti Dinner CCC Event. The dinner will be on June 12,2008 from 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe Restaurant, 9946 W. 8Th, Overland Park, Ks. 66212. We need to support the event by the selling of tickets ($8.00 and $10.00 at the door), providing auction items, along with helping as salad makers and/or servers. If paying for the tickets by check please make it out to OIFCC. Thanks for helping the cause.
One of the highlights of Old Shawnee Days activities will be a Tomato Roll (little red balls) with the top prize being a swimming pool family pass and second prize a garden basket. Sounds like fun for the young and old alike.
Mrs. Betty Hoge, Mr. Al Faltermeier and the scribe (a committee of three) is organizing the work schedule, food, etc. for Old Shawnee Days, June 6-8, 2008 at the Trails Cafe in Old Shawnee Town. Enclosed is a revised copy of the work schedule as presented in the meeting today. Since we are short on workers in some time slots you may have to extend the time you agreed to work if we are busy. Remember --this is our big fund-raiser.
President Clemenson along with Mr. Al Faltermeier welcomed Mr. David Teasley into the club as a new Optimist member. Mr. Teasley and wife have four children who are busy with summer activities. He works for Edward Jones with his office at 1-435 and Midland Drive in Shawnee. Welcome, David, to a great organization.
Next week's program --Mr. Mark Mollentine from the Governor's House
Mrs. Betty Hoge won the weekly pot. Yes, she was sitting to the left of a Don, maybe just a little diagonally. Since the winner last week didn't take the money, she doubled up --now she can buy two gallons of gas.
See you next week.

President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, the scribe leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and Mr. Al Faltermeier carrying the note to the Optimist song. Someone suggested choir lessons for the group but what can you do with six in the choir.
Meeting Notes
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield identified Mr. Mike Dalen as a birthday boy on May 10. Congratulations, Mike, for being a year older.
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield provided President Clemenson with a few Optimist items for the historical society that were stored in his garage since the beginning of time. The two items included a banner that said, "Friends of Boy" and a December 1987 Christmas tree sales work roster. As you can see the banner is a little outdated since we are now" Friends of Youth".
President Gay Clemenson reported on concession sales at Swarner Park from last Saturday. Since the money box was still locked she could not give final figures --she did say that it didn't feel too heavy. Mr. Mike Forsythe helped open on Saturday with Mrs. Betty Hoge and the scribe closing. Next Saturday, May 17, 2008 the concession trailer will be in operation again. Since Miss Kaci Forsythe won't be working club volunteers will be needed for both shifts (7:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. -5:00 p.m.). If you can help please give Mr. Mike Forsythe or President Clemenson a call.
President Clemenson provided information on the Annual Spaghetti Dinner CCC Event. The dinner will be on June 12,2008 from 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe Trail Restaurant, 9946 W. 87th, Overland Park, Ks. 66212. We will need to support the event by the selling of tickets, providing auction items, along with helping as salad makers and/or servers. An organizational meeting is scheduled in Olathe at the North Lindenwood Support Center on Tuesday, May 20, at 5:30 p.m. The club president or their designee should plan to attend.
Program Notes
Pastor Roland Boehnke introduced Mrs. Gayl Reinsch, Manager (Client Services) with Youth Friends who talked about Youth Friends in general. Youth Friends started around 13 years ago when it was decided that kids need caring adults as mentors. The program is a one on one with a child while at school. The program is now in 39 school districts with around 4,800 mentors. It is basically designed for kids who have a particular need. The Kaufman Foundation provided a five and a half million dollar grant to the organization to inspire kids in science, math and technology. Ways to help with the program include: (1) mentor a child (about job), (2) student internships, (3) job shadowing, and (4) teacher technology training (summer employment). Youth Friends mentors open new worlds for students by expanding their view of what's possible. Great program!

Next week's program --Yet to be determined.
The weekly pot was not offered this week because of limited attendance. A person could win and still come out a loser. Someone's gas tank will just have to run on empty this week.
See you next week.

The following week on May 17, Kaci will not be able to work so club members will need to help out at that time.

President Clemenson reported that she is getting a schedule together for Old Shawnee Days which will be coming up in June. Members will need to keep their schedule clean so they will be available to work in the Trails Cafe. This is one of our biggest fund-raisers so it will be important that everyone do their part.
Next week's program --Yet to be determined.

The early soccer games were cancelled because of rain but were held as scheduled starting at 10:30 a.m. The weather was beautiful the rest of the day with the temperature being a little on the cool side. The President and the scribe worked with Mrs. Hoge doing the buying and helping close. There was a question whether the soccer games would be played on Labor Day weekend. Program Notes
Mr. David Teasley introduced Mr. Jeremie Jackson who is organizing a Pop Warner Football League in Johnson County. Pop Warner has been around since 1929 and was first organized to keep kids off the streets in Pennsylvania. It is presently in 41 states with 12 state regions. The concept is geared around providing a positive sportsmanship environment involving players, parents, coaches, referees and spectators. This is accomplished through player and spectator contracts with policy enforcement. A teacher's input is also a factor in determining continued participation. Since the Pop Warner program in Johnson County is new, funds are needed to help support the operation. Good program!

President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, Mr. Brad Daniels leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and Mr. Al Faltermeier carrying the note to the Optimist song. The program speaker thought our openIng was UnIque.

Meetine Notes
No birthdays were announced today but look for a big "boom" in a week or so. President Clemenson mentioned that Mr. Al Faltermeier, our President-Elect would be attending the State Optimist meeting in Wichita this weekend. Hopefully, he will learn some skills to keep old members moving forward.
President Clemenson reminded the group she probably would not be in attendance next Monday. Hopefully a past president will be available to take her place.
The scribe didn't bring it up but a few stories were told today regarding John Deere tractors. Evidently one tractor had a problem and was being pushed while the other was working pulling a kiddie train. Yes, sometimes we have to create something to talk about some people call it filler.
President Clemenson passed around the final work sheet for people to sign up regarding activities at Old Shawnee Town and the soccer concession trailer. Hopefully the fully developed work schedule will allow for maximum fund-raising. The concession trailer will be in use this Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Swarner Park for soccer games. Hopefully the trailer will be cleaned out and moved to Swarner park by someone by Friday so it can be in operation Saturday morning. Mr. Dave Fick and the scribe have signed up to work Mrs Betty Hoge has agreed to be in charge of trailer concessions along with activities at the Trails Cafe. She will also be doing the buying, keeper of the money box and clean up so it will be important for everyone to help in the overall total operation.

Program Notes
Pastor Roland Boehnke introduced Mr. Dick Woodhouse who talked about wood-turning as a hobby and pastime. In the beginning, he knew very little about woodworking but after taking a class at Wood Craft in Lenexa he was hooked on the hobby. The K. C. Woodworking Club is very much a part of his life and he presently serves on the
Advisory Board. The club has 130+ members and meets at 1-35 and 67th Street in the old Meyer Lumber Yard building. He showed many examples of his wood tumed work. The club has a large shop along with a print and viewing library for club members. Anyone interested in joining the club should give him a call (913/851-5917). This was a very interesting program and if you missed it, it was your loss.

Next week's program --Yet to be determined.
No one won the weekly pot because of low numbers who usually participate in the activity --you guessed it, no tickets were sold.
See you next week.

From the President
President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, Mr. Mike Forsythe doing double duty by leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and carrying the note to the Optimist song.
Meeting Notes
Guest today was Mr. Brendan Teasley, son of Mr. David Teasley. It was good to see a young person in the meeting.
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield read a thank you letter from Shawnee Community Services for a $500 donation for program expansion.
President Gay Clemenson passed out working copies of a work schedule for trailer concession sales and activities at Old Shawnee Town. Once the schedules are finalized by each member then a master schedule will be developed. With everyone working together the club will have greater revenue rather than hiring someone to operate the different concessions.
President Clemenson mentioned that she and Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield attended the zone meeting last Saturday at Zarda Barbecue. Topics discussed at the meeting included: (1) Each club have speaker for other clubs, Mr. David Teasley in our club volunteered to be that person, (2) Next year's dues will be increased by one dollar and (3) United Way has filed a protest for Optimist International to have tax free status. The State Convention is going to be held on August 15-17, 2008 in Wichita.
They are no longer holding rooms so you need to make your own reservations if you plan to attend. A schedule of activities has been developed so a person will know what is going to take place at different times. A new marketing kit will also be available. The meeting would be great for all 2009 President Elects.
The 2009 Optimist International Meeting will take place in Orlando, Florida in July. Sounds like a good time to plan for next year's vacation.
Mr. David Teasley talked about the development of a new Pop Warner League in the area with emphasis on sportsmanship by all involved. More on this later.
Program teams were discussed in general because it is important to provide programs for three weeks out of the month. In the near future the scribe feels the teams need to be reviewed and adjustments made for the list to be more efficient. More on this later.
    Next week's program --Wood carver
Mrs. Mary Beth Forsythe won the weekly pot. Yes, she was sitting diagonally from a Don. She must have had a full gas tank because she donated her winnings back to the club.
See you next week.

President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, Mrs. Betty Hoge leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and Mr. Jim Sharp carrying the note to the Optimist song. The choir was limited today but Jim did the best he could --it definitely wasn't recording day.
Meeting Notes
The "big" bang will take place on Wednesday, July 30. Sec./Treas Bill Birchfield will be a birthday boy then and they go way back on that date. No one really knows how many. Congratulations!
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield mentioned he had received a Christmas tree order form in the mail. He reviewed the type of trees for sale along with the prices and asked if he should complete it --the scribe heard "no" echoing in the background.
President Clemenson mentioned there is going to be a zone meeting tonight, 6:00 p.m. at Zarda Barbecue, 87th and Quivira.
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield reminded the group he submitted the officer elected report. Thanks to Mr. Al Faltermeier for accepting the President Elect office for 2009.
President Clemenson reported the District Annual Conference will be August 14-17, 2008, Airport Hilton in Wichita, Ks. Registration deadline is August 1 and it is open to everyone. A variety of training sessions will be presented. A major topic of discussion will be a Strategic Plan for the Kansas District. The following goals will be a part of the plan: (1) Leadership Development Training, (2) Communications/Connection Technology, 3) Grow/Retention/Revitalization, (4) Involvement/Services, (5) Marketing/Technology and (6) Financial/Fundraising.
President Clemenson discussed in general soccer concession sales, dates, and work power. Soccer games will start August 16 and run though Oct. 26. There will be a special soccer tournament Sept. 19-21 at Swarner Park. Also on Aug. 20-21 there will be an elite soccer tournament. Overall we will need staffing for 11 Saturdays so it will be important for all club members to carry the load. While this is going on the club will be in action in Old Shawnee Town during the Craft Fair (Sept. 20) and the Barbecue Contest (Sept. 27). Fundraisers are nice but we need workers to make it happen. "All" club members should make an effort to work whether they attend the meeting each week or not. The important thing is we can make more money through fundraisers if we all work as a team rather than hiring someone to do the work for us.
Next week's program --Yet to be determined.
The weekly pot was won by the scribe today. Yes, he was sitting on a Don. Attendance numbers were not great today and neither was the winnings --just enough to buy fumes.
See you next week.

From the President
President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, Mrs. Betty Hoge leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and Mr. Al Faltermeier carrying the note to the Optimist song. Choir was made up of eight members so you know the rest of the story. It wasn't a good day for recording.
Meeting Notes
No birthdays were announced this week but a big bang will be coming up next week.
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield reported we are past due in selecting/electing a President-Elect for 2009. After much discussion MR. AL FALTERMEIER was asked to consider the office. Following a show of 100% support from the members present he did not turn down the opportunity to lead the group so in this case a no response was interpreted as a yes. Thanks, AI, for going the extra mile and now is your time for "change."
President Clemenson mentioned the Christmas Around Town program at Old Shawnee Town scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, is under development. Activities will be similar to last year with the time changing from the evening to the afternoon (3.00 -5:30 p.m.). More on this later.
President Clemenson said she would be delivering a check to Shawnee Community Services following the meeting. The club voted to donate $500 to assist with transition from their old facilities to their new facilities at 67th and Nieman in Shawnee.
Fall soccer games at Swarner Park pick up again next month. Since this is one of our fund-raisers it will be important to know "how" and "who" will make it happen. This is a 10 week program so it will be important to get the concession trailer organized and functioning properly (electrical circuits).
    President Clemenson outlined future fund-raisers: Craft Fair (Sat.,Sept. 20, 9:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m.), Barbecue Contest (Sat., Sept. 27, 7:00 a.m.-IO:OO a.m.), Historical Haunting (Sat., Oct. 25, 6:00 p.m. -8:30 p.m.), Christmas Around Town (Sat., Dec. 6, 3:00 p.m. -5:30 p.m.) and Volley Ball Tournament (Jan. -Feb.).
Mr. Mike Forsythe, one of very own, is performing as Marryin' Sam in Lil Abner at the Performing Arts Center, 500 Delaware, Leavenworth, Ks. Performance times are July 25-26, Aug. 1,2,8,9 -8:00 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 3 -2:00 p.m. Kaci, his daughter, also plays a couple of parts so if you want to relax and have a good time, check out their acting skills.
    Next week's program -Business Meeting
No one won the weekly pot again since not enough were in attendance to make it worthwhile. Hope attendance increases soon because the scribe's gas tank is getting low.
See you next week.

From the President
President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, the scribe leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and ???? carrying the note to the Optimist song. The President said we got through it but there is an opening for a new song leader. The scribe would second that if it were made into a motion.
Meeting Notes
No birthdays were announced but Pastor Roland and Dolores Boehnke will be celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary on July 10. Congratulations! The scribe thinks Roland learned two words early in their marriage (Yes, dear). He knows that from experience having just celebrated his 50th.
What a pleasant surprise when Mr. Trevor Holloway dropped in to visit our Optimist Club and is thinking about being a part of the group. He and his wife, Elizabeth, and small son have just moved into the area from Chicago and are looking for places to be involved in the community --our arms are wide open to embrace them.
President Clemenson talked about the "Shawnee Magazine" and two articles related to Old Shawnee Town: (1) Old Shawnee Town is now selling organic products at the gift shop, and (2) Ms. Donna Sawyer and her involvement at Old Shawnee Town.
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield reported on the correct amount of a CD the club presently has. He said that it was $19,600 in the beginning and now has grown to $23,300 plus.
Sec./Treas. Birchfield reviewed the membership dues and when the new year starts (Oct. 1) along with meal costs (billed quarterly) for the benefit of any new prospective members.
The scribe is thinking about buying Mr. Dave Fick a road map if he thinks the power generating windmills are located around Ellis, Ks. rather than Ellsworth, Ks. on 1-70. If you have a little extra gas money it is worth the trip to see them.
Next week's program --This will be an interesting program because it is a campaign issue that involves changing how judges are being selected. They presently are picked (selected) rather than elected. Ms. Jan Russell, a past judge, will present an interesting program on the topic. The scribe thinks it would be nice to fill all the chairs for the program --hope you can make it.
No one won the weekly pot because it was not offered --guess why! The scribe has been running his gas tank on empty for some time hoping for the winning number but small attendance doesn't make it possible.
See you next week.

From the President
President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, Mr. Dave Fick leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and Mr. Al Faltermeier carrying the note to the Optimist song. Song was better today because the choir was larger.

Meeting Notes
Guests today included Mr. Trevor Holloway for a second time and Mr. Mike Lemon, a grandson of Mr. Dusty Chandler, V/ho was visiting.
Sec./Treas. Bill Birchfield mentioned that Mr. Dudley Crow, one of our very own awhile back, is 2009 President-Elect of the Lawrence Breakfast Club (7:00 a.m.) and has invited us over for a visitation. The scribe is wondering whether anyone in the Shawnee Mission Club is awake at that hour. Thanks for the invitation.
President Gay Clemenson introduced Ms. Janice D. Russell, Retired District Court Judge and presently selected Kansas Senior Judge, who discussed keeping our fair and impartial courts. As a Kansas Senior Judge she will fill in for judges throughout Kansas who will be on vacation or for some other reason, etc. She said in November we will be asked to vote for merit selection or partisan election in how judges are determined. At the present time, judges in Johnson County are determined by merit selection. A Judicial Nominating Commission then recommends three candidates to the Governor who makes the selection. She felt it was important to vote "no" on the "Justice not Politics" issue to keep the merit system. Two main reasons are because it would cost a lot of money to run campaigns and judges can't set aside human nature. This was a very informative and interesting meeting.
Next meeting --yet to be determined.
Nobody won the weekly pot because it wasn't offered. Someone may be driving on empty today rather than in jail. The judge was sitting across from a Don and he didn't want to leave the impression that we did anything illegal.
    See you next week.

From the President
President Gay Clemenson opened the meeting with Pastor Roland Boehnke providing grace, the scribe leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and Mr. Mike Forsythe carrying the note to the Optimist song. Seven people doesn"t make a choir but we did the best we could --hint, hint, etc.

Meeting Notes
The secret is out with the Sec./Treas. trying to contain himself. It seems the scribe's birthday and 50th wedding anniversary was Sunday, June 29. Being married on your birthday is one way to remember the important date. He still doesn't know whose idea it was --maybe it was just a dare. On the other spectrum, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Forsythe are going to have their first year anniversary blessed in the chapel at Bishop Ward High School this evening. The scribe thinks it sounds like a set of bookends to him. Congratulations to all.
President Clemenson presented two requests for funds during the business meeting. Mr. Carter Daniels, son of Mr. Brad Daniels, requested a $300 donation to the Bulldog Ball program since he was playing on the Bulldog team. Bulldog Ball helps provide basketball to kids that may not have the opportunity to be able to play due to money problems. Mr. Mike Forsythe moved the club honor the request for $300 and the scribe seconded. Motion passed. The other request was for financial help for Shawnee Community Services. Since they are moving toward construction of a new building located at 67th and Nieman Road they need funds for the time they are relocated to continue feeding the less fortunate. The William Kemper Foundation, Commerce Bank Trustee has notified Shawnee Community Services that a $25,000 grant will be available. The scribe moved the club provide $500 towards their need and Mr. Dusty Chandler seconded. Motion passed.
The president, along with other members present today, discussed the problems of lack of attendance, membership and fund-raising opportunities. It seems to club could do more if more revenue was available.
Next week's program --yet to be determined.
Mrs. Betty Hoge won the weekly pot. Yes, she was sitting to the left of a Don. She didn't even make enough money to turn on the gas pump. See you next week.
